On Tuesday June 23rd we visited Viru. We had a wonderful time. We saw the Verbeck family. Brent taught and baptized sister Elena Guzman de Verbeck. We also saw Sister Polo and Sister Narvaez, Brent also taught and baptized them both. The Verbeck family has a chacra which means a farm in the Peruvian indian language, in Spanish farm or chacra is finca. So I learned a new word, chacra. Sisters Elena Verbeck, Polo and Narvaez along with Martha (Elena's sister) and another sister that I can't remember her name oops, Went to the chacra very early that morning to get started on our dinner. We ate chicken, radishes and potatoes, all from their farm. It was delicious!! We hiked up the mountain behind the chacra, where you can dig for indian pots. We found a few broken pieces of indian pottery that was very old!!

| Eating dinner. The sister on the left in the red shirt is Franshesca Panchi and she served as a missionary in Trujillo and after her mission she went to live in Viru. She is from Arequipa. |
These sisters were so cute. Brent is THEIR missionary and they could not get enough of him lol. They were so happy he was there and they wanted their picture taken with him and they kept giving him hugs.

| In front of the house where Brent and his companion Elder Fernando Mendoza held church. When Brent was a missionary it was only a one story house. When Brent and Fernando opened Viru for missionary work there was only one sister who was a member. Brent and Fernando went around knocking on doors looking for someone to let them use their living room to hold the sacrament meetings. This lady let them use their living room. Brent always wondered if this lady joined the church and he found out during our visit that she did but her husband didn't. |
