Having faith during hard times

I love reading the Book of Mormon.  This year we have been studying it. The past couple of weeks have been hard for our family. Kevin decided he didn't want to be married to Alison anymore. It is a very hard thing to go through as a parent, to see your daughter suffer like Alison has been suffering these past couple of weeks. It is a very hard thing to find out how Kevin has treated her during the 5 years of their marriage.

I have been trying so hard to have charity in my heart and not let hate enter in. We feel that we have been very loving towards Kevin and we have treated him like a son and with respect just like we treat our kids, their spouses are like our children to us. It has been very disappointing and heart breaking finding out how Kevin has treated Alison during these 5 years. This morning (Tuesday, December 15th, 2020) has been very hard and I have been so angry at Kevin and his parents.

As I was reading the Come Follow Me lesson and Book of Mormon, which is Moroni 10, I came to verse 3 which says:

"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts."

The thought enter in my mind and heart, "how merciful the Lord has been to me." I know God loves me, he has given me so many blessings and the one that entered my mind was having the Book of Mormon and being a member of the true Church of Christ on the earth. Because I know this, I know the plan of happiness and knowing this, I know that God has a plan for all of us and no matter what happens in this life, because we have our Savior, because he suffer and died for us, we can have eternal life and we can be happy as an eternal family. Heavenly Father has blessed me even in the hardest of trials and I know that He can do that for Alison. Jesus Christ knows what she is going through, He loves her and is mindful of her.

On verse 8 of Moroni 10 it says: "Deny not the gifts of God, for there are many". What a blessing it is to have the gift of the Book of Mormon, to know the truth through the power of the Holy Ghost. To know that no matter how hard life is, if we read the scriptures we will feel God's love for us and find solutions to the problems that we experience in our lives.

On verse 30 of Moroni 10 Moroni exhorts us to "Come unto Christ, and lay hold of every good gift, and touch not the evil gift". Hate isn't a good gift, charity is. I must continue to work hard to have charity in my heart even have charity towards those who have done me wrong. Charity is the pure love of Christ and charity never faileth. I know that through the power of the Holy Ghost I can obtain charity.

Reagan is 8 and waiting to be able to be baptized because of COVID. Here she is wearing the dress her mom and aunts wore on their baptism day. She looks beautiful.
