Email from Sister Grover

I get emails from a sister missionary who served in our Ward. I love her emails. Here is one.

Hola! This week was long, no success, but awesome week of feeling the spirit! I was on a spiritual high! This will be long, but read it! I know something in this WILL touch your hearts!! Wednesday was awesome! We had zone conference that's when elder Maynes came and spoke to us! He's AWESOME!!! He's a basketball player and golfer and super funny haha, their just normal everyday people. He was great! Sister Berry said something I loved "the lord can't guide our footsteps if we don't move our feet." Wow, how true is that. We have to have the faith and press forward for Him to help us! Then she talked about how our mission is like a camera, "you focus on what's Important, capture the good times, develop from the negative, and take another picture if it doesn't turn out" I thought that was an awesome analogy! President Berry talked about happiness! Which I needed to hear, he had prepared this talk and the night before he said he changed the subject to happiness! He gave us 6 steps to what happy people are, that was awesome! Sister Maynes spoke about 3 things we can do to be better missionaries and a quote from president Monson she mention that I LOVE, was "the impact is everlasting, the work is demanding" and then elder Maynes spoke and talked about a lot of things! But one thing he talked to us about was staying connected to our purpose-ALWAYS. So we need to be connected to our purpose when we first wake up until the time we go to sleep, which was awesome, because I know that's something huge I need to work out, we ALWAYS need to be talking with EVERYONE! And inviting them to come closer to our savior!  He also talked about the first Vision and how Joseph smith represents all investigators and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ represent the first companionship of missionaries in this dispensation! HOW COOL!! they literally showed us the way!! He also talked about how we are the ones who have control over everything, so we decide if we want to be happy, we decide if we want to wake up at 6:30. But he also said, Heavenly Father has high expectations of me, so why should I have lower expectations of myself, than He has in me? He is speaking in conference in April and that is the subject of his talk! Heavenly father has proved the way, we are asked to be perfect even as our father in heaven is perfect, but he has proved that was because we become perfected through Christ! He said to have more spiritual maturity is to know the doctrine and live it! Cause most of the time, we know it, but we don't always live it! He also talked about the plan of salvation and the celestial kingdom a bunch! It was amazing! But he talked about how we MUST live a celestial life, because whatever law we choose to live, that's the body will be resurrected in! WOW. I have to live a celestial life so I can have a celestial body!
Sunday I then got to hear from 4 more general authorities, elder Clayton, sister reeves, elder Rasband, and elder hales, but my favorite talk was elder Rasband's, he talked about the temple!! This is a topic that has weighed heavenly on my mind lately and something I have studied every single day for the past two weeks! The first thing he says is "We live in perilous times, but the Lords has promised we are not alone" he goes on to talk about the temples, and how we MUST stand in holy places before the day of the Lord comes. He said "every time a cornerstone is put in, it lessens the power of Satan on the earth" WOAH, that is powerful right? So that tells us just how important temples really are!! We have 149 operating temples and will have 150 in March! We are SO blessed!!! The storms of life are coming, they are already here and our ONLY refuge and protection is the temple!! President Hinckley has told us "Go to the house of the lord more frequently, it is the greatest blessing to us in mortality" we are promised the blessing of heaven as we enter into the lords house and attend the temple! Who doesn't want blessing from heaven!!!?? I know I do!! President Uchtdorf has said "DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO HOLD A CURRENT TEMPLE RECOMMEND" I encourage each and everyone of you to do the same!! Fix what needs fixing, pay a full tithe, talk to your bishop, talk to your stake president, keep the commandments, if a temple is, and I KNOW IT IS, the only protection we have in mortality, isn't that something you want? Protection? Do everything you can to obtain a temple recommend and go to the temple!! I LOVE THE TEMPLE!!! I know just how important it is and the blessings that we will receive as we attend the temple. President Monson has said "You will be filled with confidence as you attend the temple frequently" so attend the temple, have confidence in the future, be protected, come closer to our savior. The storms CANNOT penetrate us as we attend the temple frequently!  President Monson has also said, that as we attend the temple the adversary will have no power over us, and that WE WILL overcome temptation and trials! I challenge each of you, to get a temple recommend, be worthy of it! WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT, WE JUST HAVE TO BE WORTHY! And I invite each of you to attend the temple twice a month if possible!! I PROMISE you will be blessed! You will see the blessing of heaven shower upon your heads and the power of the adversary will lessen in your lives! I love you all! Thanks for your love and support! Have a wonderful week! Love Sister Grover

February 29th, 2016

How cool that it is the 29th of February! I found pictures in the Santa Fe mission blog and Parker sent me a picture today in his email and a mom of a sister missionary serving with Parker posted a picture. I love it!

Parker eating at the mission home with the president and his wife.

These next few pictures I found in the mission blog. Parker at the airport saying goodbye to the missionaries going home.
Elder Francis one of his companions

"All of our zone after the Bednar transmission. We went to the familia Palota's house to eat. It was a fun time!" Sis. Palota is wearing the the blue dress. I was amazed that she fed that many missionaries. That's a huge amount of food and money."  (Sister Jones in the green shirt, emailed this picture and the caption to her mother who told me about it)

Bugs Bunny

Conner got to pet sit Bugs the bunny, our neighbor's bunny. He loved it so much, they said he could go across the street to their house and play with him anytime!

Ward Bulletin Board

Brent asked me to help do the bulletin board for our Ward. Ashley helped me with giving me ideas. I went to JoAnns and bought the supplies. Brent helped me with cutting and stapling the material on the board. It is not perfect but I am happy with how it turned out.

Our sweet new granddaughter

Our little granddaughter was born on February 15, 2016. She weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and was 17 1/2" long. We are so happy everything went well even though she came 5 weeks early. She got to home and she is doing great along with her momma. We are very happy!

God answers our prayers!

I have always believed that God answers my prayers.  I learned that He does answers prayers when I was very young. Somedays the way He answers prayers is so miraculous it amazes me. I have been so sick these past couple of weeks with my Menieres flare up. The medication I had been on the past few months was working great except that I was very sleepy during the day, even though I took it at night. It was a time release pill so it stayed in my system all day. I was afraid of asking the doctor for another medication but because it was becoming dangerous when I drove Conner in the afternoon to and from his activities because I was so sleepy, I had to ask the doctor for something else. The first medication he prescribed made me sick. I had terrible joint pain, headaches, and felt horrible. The second medicine made me forgetful and I almost burned down my kitchen. I never forget anything!! I put the meat on the pan to cook and completely forgot until the kitchen and family room was covered in smoke. Now my kitchen cabinets just stink, even a few days later. That medicine was terrible it made me feel anxious too. I was not myself, one night I had a mild anxiety attack. I had to call the doctor again and he switched the medication to another one but this one had a side effect I did not like, it could cause glaucoma and because I am a glaucoma suspect I have to be careful. I called my ophthalmologist and they said I should not take it. I called my doctor again and now I am taking another medication. I started taking it last night. Let's hope it works.

About a couple of weeks before I got sick I got a call from the temple saying that they had some of my family file names at the front desk and asked if I wanted them to mail them to me or keep them for me there until I went the next time. I said to keep them because I was hoping to go soon. Well, I got sick and haven't been able to go. I have been feeling so bad and thinking they were probably going to mail them.  I could not remember what names they were. Today at lunch as I said my prayer, I prayed that Heavenly Father would bless me with health because I have work to do. After my prayer my phone rang and it was brother Mason Herzog a counselor in the Orlando mission presidency. His son Matthew helps me with my geneology.  He said they were pretty much done with their family's genealogy and he wants to help me with mine and he wanted to know if I had any names at the temple for initiatories that needed to be done. I told him that I got a call from the temple and he asked me if they were male because he wanted to do them. I told him I did not know and he told me to call the temple and find out.  I thought the names at the temple were female names but I called anyway. I called the temple and to my surprise there were 26 male names that the initiatories needed to be done!! I had completely forgotten that a while back the youth had taken names for baptisms and the male names were not done at that time, they must have been done recently and were now ready for initiatories. Brother Herzog must have been inspired to call me and he was the answer to my prayer that even though I have been sick my work still can get done by him! He told me I have many friends meaning "missionaries" that go to the temple and can help me with your names!
