Puerto Rico trip

Excited for our trip
Our view from our hotel room

San Francisco de Asis Chapel. In my family tree it is stated that my 4th great-grandfather, Juan de Dios de Sotomayor is buried there in the catacombs. My 4th great-grandfather came from Malaga, Spain to Puerto Rico and he owned the land that is called El Condado. My guess is he named them El Condado because my 5th great-grandfather was a Conde or "Count" in Malaga, Spain, his name was Francisco de Sotomayor.

My Tio Rafael Sotomayor's funeral

My Tio (uncle) Rafael Sotomayor past away early in the morning of the 15th of September, my birthday. He developed an infection from his dialysis and it went to his heart and he was in a lot of pain. He looked fine and was recovering in the hospital but then he had sacks forming around his heart and started having heart attacks he died in his sleep. He was my mom's oldest brother from the same father and mother, from my grandma Eugenia and grandpa Luis. My grandpa was married prior to my grandmother and had three other children. The oldest my aunt Ana is still alive and is 101 years old, then my uncle Pedro who past away and the third child died when my grandfather's wife was giving birth, she died also while giving birth. My mom's family is very close. I grew up around my uncles and aunts and they treat me like a daughter. My uncle used to come visit he would always give me $.50 and back then that was a lot (in the 70s). I remember my uncle as kind, smart and classy. He enjoyed calling me and talking with me on the phone. He will be missed.
My uncles Carlos and Guillermo. I called them Tio Carlos and Tio Willie. They are my mom's brothers

My Tio Rafael's granddaughter put together a video presentation at the funeral. This picture is my grandmother and her 6 children. My mom and her brothers, Rafael, Victor (Vitin), Guillermo (Willie), Luz (lucy, my mom), Carlos and Vicente (Tito), in order of age not in order of the picture.
